What you’ll see

During a partial lunar eclipse only part of the Moon enters Earth’s umbra, so a dark “bite” creeps across the lunar disc and retreats again. The eclipsed portion often takes on a reddish tint. It is safe to watch with the naked eye and visible from anywhere the Moon is above the horizon.

The Moon Explorer app computes this eclipse’s circumstances for your exact location — local times, moonrise and moonset around the event — entirely offline, and can remind you the day before and on the day.
