Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 11, 2026

Moon Explorer is a small app made by one person, and this policy is short because the app genuinely doesn't collect anything. It has no server, no user accounts, no analytics, and no ads. Everything the app does happens on your phone.

Location

The app asks for your location for one reason: to work out moonrise and moonset times and show you what the Moon looks like from where you are tonight. That calculation runs entirely on your device. Your location is never uploaded, stored on a server, or shared with anyone — there is nowhere for it to go, because the app doesn't talk to a server at all.

You can say no to the location permission and the app still works; you'll just need to pick a spot on the map yourself or go without rise and set times. You can also revoke the permission at any time in your phone's settings.

Notifications

If you turn on reminders for things like full moons or lunar events, those notifications are scheduled locally on your phone by the app. No notification service of ours is involved (we don't have one).

Sharing

Moon Explorer can create picture cards of the Moon for you to share. A card is only created when you tap the share button, and it's handed to Android's standard share menu so you choose the app it goes to. We never see it.

Links to other sites

Some lessons in Moon Academy link to YouTube videos. Tapping one takes you out of Moon Explorer, and from that point YouTube's own privacy policy applies, not this one.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, children included.

Changes

If the app ever changes in a way that affects any of the above — say a future version adds an online feature — this policy will be updated first, and the "last updated" date at the top will change.
